Next month is Halloween, so porches will be decorated with jacks-o-lanterns. Friends will coordinate costumes and movie buffs can stream their favorite haunted films. Some people can deal with classic horror films like Friday 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. Others prefer to be more relaxed about the holiday. A Disney + subscription is a great way to celebrate Halloween even if you don’t love horror. Disney + has a collection of feel-good Halloween movies. These movies are more playful than scary but still have engaging storylines. Below, you can see some of the most popular Halloween movies Disney + has to show. This includes the new Muppets Halloween Special Premiere that will air in October.
It’s possible to say that the Halloweentown series was one the most memorable moments of cinema for children in the 1990s. You can access all four parts of this franchise on Disney+: Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High, Return to Halloweentowntown and Halloweentown II. It’s the ideal choice for a marathon. You can follow Marnie and her siblings as their journey to Halloweentown takes them to a land filled with creatures. They learn to master their powers and defeat villains. This is all thanks to Aggie Cromwell (the beloved Debbie Reynolds).

Based on Disney’s famous theme park of the same name, The Haunted Mansion follows a family trapped in a haunted house on their way on vacation. The 2003 film is now available at a much better time than ever – not only because it’s Halloween, but also because of the fact that you can see it right now. Filming for Haunted Mansion, another Disney Haunted Mansion-inspired film, will begin this year. Tiffany Haddish and Owen Wilson will star in the film.

A great watch for both Halloween and Christmas seasons, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas classic. Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town is one day to find his way into Christmas Town. He becomes so infatuated with Christmas Town’s new traditions, joy, and joy, that he decides it is time to be Santa Claus. It’s not surprising that the Pumpkin King makes many mistakes when trying to add to a foreign holiday. This 1993 fantasy film, featuring its lively characters and its engaging music, is a must see.

Based on the book series of the same name, Twitches is about twins who were separated at birth, but cross again on their birthday, which happens to be Halloween. But there’s a twist in an otherwise clichéd plot – the sisters, portrayed by Tia and Tamera Mowry, are witches with magical powers. Disney + also offers the sequel to Twitches Too.
Max doesn’t believe magic, and calls the entire concept “Hocus Pocus”, hence its title. He accidentally awakens three evil sister witches known collectively as the Sanderson Sisters. To stop the Sanderson Sisters siphoning the youth of the community, he teams up with Allison (his crush), Dani [his sister] and Thackery Binx (“a talking cat”)
Lonesome Ghost was a Mickey Mouse animation that dates back to 1937. Technically, it’s not a movie because it lasts only nine minutes. However, anyone who enjoys old school animation should see it. The short version shows that Goofy, Donald Duck, and Mickey Mouse act as ghost destroyers and are petted by four playful ghosts.

Tim Burton is known for his films with gaunt looking characters and Gothic settings, so it’s no surprise that another of his films made its way onto this list. Frankenweenie features Victor Frankenstein (a young man who loves science and his dog Sparky) as the main character. Frankenstein uses science and tragedy to bring Sparky back from the dead after his tragic loss. Problems arise when Victor’s experiment is replicated by another student at Frankenstein’s school. This film blends a dark theme and humor with the unavoidable fun of animation. The film is both scary and supernatural, but not too frightening.

Scary Friends (September 24th)
As part of the Air Buddies franchise, Spooky Buddies follows five talking Golden Retrievers who visit a haunted house with their owners. The Buddies have to work together to stop Warwick the Warlock’s evil minions. This film is both funny and cute, but it also has a supernatural element and is a fun way for Halloween to be celebrated. Disney+ won’t have the Spooky Buddies movie until September 24th but it will still be available well before the holidays.

Muppets Haunted Mansion (October 8)
The Muppets are getting their first Halloween special this year, which will premiere exclusively on Disney + on October 8th. This film was inspired by Disney’s Haunted Mansion rides and follows Gonzo as he bravely spends a night in haunted houses. The special features Muppet favorites Kermit and Miss Piggy, as well as new songs, will help you get in the Halloween spirit.
